Bretons have a heavy focus on Magicka and thus make very good Magicka-based DPS or Healers. The cost reduction of Magicka abilities, in combination with the Magicka Recovery, gives them excellent sustain, allowing them to DPS or Heal longer before needing to use a Potion or Heavy Attack to regain Magicka. The Spell Resistance is also nice to have, as it helps keep them alive longer, particularly in PvP. If you know you want to play a Magicka Build, this Race is a fantastic choice.
The Breton race hails from High Rock. The men and women of High Rock were once ruled by High Elf overlords.
Some Elven blood still runs in their veins, giving Bretons an innate grasp of magic that distinguishes them from the other human races.
Passionate and flamboyant, intelligent and resourceful, the Bretons are renowned and talented craftsmen, shrewd merchants, gallant cavaliers, and inventive wizards. They can also be proud and quarrelsome.
Tales of warfare between the kingdoms of High Rock account for much of their history, but most revere the Eight Divines and value prosperity over glory.
The Breton Race History
Bretons are the result of interbreeding between the Direnni Dynasty who settled in High Rock in the First Era and the local Nede population.
The half-elven population was only permitted to marry humans in the region.
This has resulted in a race of men that have a strong affinity for magic, and some retain a haughtiness of manner that is attributed by some to their merish ancestry.
The Breton race shares similar cultures and languages but is divided politically. According to some accounts, they are descendants of the Druids of Galen, while others claim their culture has Nedic origins. They became a distinct culture following the decline of the Direnni elves, which also created their fractured political structure.
They are highly intelligent, willful, and have an outgoing personalities. It is said that Bretons are weaned on magic, for it seems to infuse their very being. Intermingling with elven blood has given the Breton race an affinity for magic, though hardiness is also part of their heritage.
Breton culture operates under the feudal system, inherited from their previous Direnni overlords
